Immaculate Conception

Everyday is a struggle to strive for holiness.  God calls us to holiness but we are too busy attending to many unimportant things that what is important is left undone.

Today is Immaculate Conception Day.  Mamy Mary always remind me of perfect obedience.  When God asked her to be the Mother of Jesus, she said yes without question.  I hope I could do the same.

Gaga over Gregorian

This is not just your ordinary Gregorian chants.  The priests have actually gone pop.  They even did a cover of my favorite "Heaven is A Place on Earth.  The other songs they have covered are:
The Sound of Silence
Bridge over Troubled Waters
Losing My Religion
The Unforgiven (of Metallica!)
Imagine
With or without You (of U2)
Tears in Heaven
Nothing Else Matters
Fields of Gold
Boulevard of Broken Dreams
Once In a Lifetime

Missing Christmas in the Philippines

Just visited Ribbiticus' site and I suddenly missed the Philippines again, especially now that Christmas is just around the corner.  She has a countdown timer and it is says 52 days before Christmas.

I hope people will make the most out of the long Christmas celebration in the Philippines.  The way we celebrate Christmas is unique in the whole world and once you leave the country, you will most definitely miss it.

Trick or treat!

For practical reasons, I opted for my son to wear a military costume. He can still wear everything again, the pants, the shirt and the hat, unlike the popular halloween costumes that kids will only wear once.

Next year, it will be another story. Francis will be a toddler and for sure, he would want to pick his own costume.

But for now, he is my little Russian fighter pilot.

I am Mom!

My husband left for New York this morning to see The Cure in Madison Square Garden. I would have love to come with him if it were not for the baby. My husband and I love to go to concerts and it is not because-i-don't-have-anybody-to-go-with-me-that-i-have-to-drag-my-girlfriend/wife kind of thing. We both actually enjoy being in concerts and bouncing from our seats, screaming with everyone else.

This time, however, it is with a heavy heart that he had to go.

He bought the tickets last year actually when I wasn't pregnant yet, around March I think. We were both excited and looked forward to going back to the big apple.

Then, I got pregnant.

And the concert initially got cancelled and got rescheduled for June this year.

We could have left the baby with my mom-in-law, but I could not bear to leave my son for more than 24 hours. (NYC is 5 hours away and the concert finishes by 11 pm, so we have to stay overnight in some hotel). OMG! I am indeed a mom!

More blogs to come

Now that I have realized that I can post in (or on?) my blog via email, I plan to open another one or two.  Probably one about gardening and another on cooking.  Can't wait.   I just hope I can keep the momentum.  Hay naku, baka ningas kugon na naman ako.

Viva La Senza

I love M & S underwears.  Actually, for undies, I love M & S, la senza, penshoppe and good old Soen.   Before I left for abroad years ago, some of my friends gave me a boxful of Soen undies because they knew that underwears are more expensive abroad.  I am ever grateful to those friends because until now, those Soen undies stood the test of time and wash from many laundromats and washing machines and dryers.

My friend and I went into an underwear shopping spree last week.  After I gave birth to Francis, I couldn't deny anymore the fact that the size of my hip has not been what it used to be.  Time to ditch those old XS mark and spencer knickers.

Lasenza.com has a currently a huge sale.  They have undies for $3 a piece which is much cheaper than Victoria Secret on sale.  We thought the shipping was free if you buy more than $89 worth of underwears but since they are shipping from Canada, we have to pay for S & H.  Even then, it is still cheaper as we placed one order for both of us (actually, three of us...my mother-in-law bought some too!).  Cheaper than the ones we buy from Kohls sale even.

When the package arrived, the undies were in a sexy white La senza box.

You know when sometimes you buy stuff online and you get disappointed when you open the box.  It was not like that at all with our La senza order.  The undies were fabulous...the workmanship was great, the materials used were soft and lovely.  We were ecstatic.  It is really weird to be ecstatic with underwears but we were.

Live and Record

When asked if she kept a journal, the ever-elegant Jackie O once said that she intended to live her life, not to record it.  That was before the internet was even invented and blog was not even a word in the dictionary.  These days, even six-year olds have blogs.  For anti-bloggers, blogging is just for idle people who have time to waste.  Not quite.  One just have to make time.

I have this blog for a time and it is not frequently updated because there are so many things going on with my life but I resolve to change and blog as much as I can.  My baby is growing fast and I want to document special moments as they unfold.   Yes, I can take a video but that would not describe the feelings and thoughts I have at that moment.  I say, live and record!

Uwa

I think I heard my son say "Uwa" this morning to refer to his Lola.  But then again, I think all mommies would like to think that their babies are advanced for their age so we put meaning to their babblings.  It was just so cute.  I was holding him and he was trying to reach to his Lola when he said "Uwa."

Last week, I thought he said "dede" when he wanted his bottle.  True enough, he sucked with all his might when I gave him his bottle.  But then again, it could have just been me interpreting his sounds.

And by the way, I think I have mentioned it before, we are training him to speak Tagalog fluently.  My husband and I has a deal.  I'm going to speak to him in Tagalog all the time while he speaks to Francis in English.  We want him bilingual and who knows, probably I'll teach him Spanish too when I begin next year.
Francis at 4 mos.

Francis is 16 weeks and 5 days

For the love of tsismis

I hate to admit it but I am an avid fan of tsismis blogs and websites. Mostly everday, I check out the websites of Brian Gorrel, Kitty Go, Perez Hilton and sometimes Bryanboy's website (once in a while, he has some juicy tales on some Pinoy persona) and the sites) pep.ph, chikatime.com. In the morning when I check them out, I call it a 'me' time, time to reconnect to my ever tsismosa nature.

Reading Brian Gorrel's blog is like watching a Pinoy telenovela: rich people taking advantage of other people and making api of the poor, and the poor got back on his feet and exact revenge on the mapang-api...ahuhuhu! But I wouldn't call Brian poor as he's got business in Australia (and he HAD 70,000 dawlars to spare). Probably foolish but not poor. I just love how he dish out the dirt on some of the high society people he once called friends. Personally, I don't know these people and I do feel sorry for all those whom Brian have mentioned
